Mario Kart 9 is “In Active Development” will also feature “A New Twist”

Video game analyst Dr. Serkan Toto of Kantan Games has mentioned in a recent article that the next installment of the popular kart racer franchise, Mario Kart 9 is progressing in development and that Nintendo could very well start to tease it as of later this year.

The current Mario Kart game that’s on the Nintendo Switch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which was released back in 2017, is a revised port of the original Mario Kart 8 which was launched on the Wii U console that was a very critically acclaimed entry for the series, that was released back in May of 2014.

Dr. Serkan Toto says that the next game in the series features a unique twist. Nintendo has been working alongside DeNA on the successful Mario Kart Tour for iOS and Android which has surpassed over 200 million downloads back in April of 2021.

“I am aware Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still selling well on the Nintendo Switch, but Mario Kart 9 is in active development (and comes with a new twist) and Nintendo could tease it this year.”
